Introduction
One of the most interesting features of Dragon Oath is the multitude of pets that you can capture while playing the game. If you travel to Luo Yang, you can talk to an NPC who will transport you to a place called Pet Island. On Pet Island there are over 60 different pets for you to capture, each with their own unique personality, traits, and abilities. Though spending time capturing pets is fun, it is not easy. There are guardians who protect Pet Island that will attack any intruders on sight. Some of these guardians may appear to be close to you in level, but theyre much more powerful that the average player. The farther you venture into Pet Island, the more dangerous it becomes; but with great risk comes the chance for great reward.

All great warriors seek companionship. In Dragon Oath players will find a unique land called Pet Island that is filled with many pets that are often times as loyal as they are deadly. With up to 70 types of pets, each having their own character and personality that appears when their master is being attacked, a warrior will never feel alone on the battlefield. When a player reaches level five, he will receive their first pet, Little Bunny, from Lily White in Da Li.

Pet Growth
Pets have their own stats and skills and as they level up. They also receive points that can be applied to these stats to make them stronger. The owner can adjust their pet's attributes in Strength, Intelligence, Stamina, Willpower and Agility.

Strength affects physical attack

Intelligence affects magic attack

Stamina affects physical defense and HP limit

Willpower affects magic defense

Agility affects hit, critical hit and reflexes

Pet island
Players will obtain a pet when they join one of the nine classes but if they want to choose from a wide selection of pets, they can visit Pet Island. Any pet in the area can be caught as long as the player is powerful enough to tame the pet. Choose from several types of pets including wolves, parrots, polar bears, praying mantises, stegosauruses, gorillas, and even the elusive and illustrious Invincible Cat!

Pets interface
After a player has caught their pet, the pets information can be seen on the Pet window. The Pet window is a central place where players can monitor all their pets stats, life, experience and joy. You can get to the pet interface by pressing X or clicking the tiger face in the lower left corner.

Pet skills
Pets are able to learn abilities through various ways. Pets can become stronger and learn new skills through a pet trainer. Players can teach their pet to compensate for their weaknesses or support their strengths, To do this however you will be needing a pet skill scroll or an Advanced Skill scroll, These can be obtained from boss drops, Chests and shops, Then head over to Lou yang pet shop and select the option learn pet skill, its as simple as that.

NOTE : Depending on pet level, using a pet skill scroll may Replace a current Pet skill.

Pet skills are classified into two categories: manually operated skills and automatic skills. Manually operated skills allows the owner to control the use of the skill during fights. These skills can be placed in a shortcut bar for ease of use. Automatic skills are skills that the pet uses automatically during fights, The automatic skills will be cast Depending on the Pets Loyalty. Each pet has 3 to 5 skills that can be improved using accumulated stats gained as they level. You can also learn new pet skills using Pet Skill Scrolls.

Baby pets
Players may prefer to own a baby pet rather than a grown pet. If a player has a Baby Pet Scroll, he can transform their grown pets to a baby pet, this Can be done in the Pet shops around the Dragon oath world.

Breeding Pets
Players may even find ways to breed their pets with those of their friends in order to create even more powerful pets. The higher level the pet is, the longer the breeding process will be. The owner will be informed by mail when it has successfully bred. Breeding can lead to a variety of very interesting combinations of pet skills to create a deadly ally in battle.

To start Breeding you will need to Catch a young pet and level them to level 30, (after you breed it at level 30 and want to breed again you will need to level it to 50) then with your friend head over to Su Zhou pet shop in a Player team and Simply go through the Menu to breed pets, This will cost 2G for both people involved but at the end you will recieve a Great rare pet.

Only the team leader is cost 2g (edited by dete_lynn)

Feed your Pet
Players can feed their pet when it loses HP during a fight by storing proper pet food in their inventory. Each type of pet will only eat certain types of food. While the pet is summoned and used during battles, its happiness will gradually decrease. After it reaches a certain point, it cannot be summoned without using pet tools such as toys to increase its happiness.

Pet's come in four classes of diet. Pets will only eat the food from their diet, so changing pets may mean changing the pet food you carry. The four diet types are listed below.

Carnivorous (Meat-eating, such as Crocodiles, Tigers, etc.)
Herbivorous (Plant-eating, such as Rabbits, etc.)
Insectivorous (Insect-eating)
Grain-Fed (Grain-eating)

Pet Savvy
You can increase your pets attributes by increasing the pet Savvy. Savvy has a different effect on talent growth depending on it's Savvy level. A pet's Savvy is 0 in the beginning but can be increased by using a Pet Savvy Bone Pill

To increase a pet's savvy you will need either a Savvy Bone Pill, or another pet. Using another pet to increase your pets savvy is a good way to go. To do this you need a pet with the same level of your pet's base level, and the pet you are sacrificing needs to have a Bone value greater than the Savvy value of the pet you are trying to increase. When you have your pet and the pet that you want to sacrifice, head over to Su Zhou, and talk to Na Na White. The interface is pretty self explanatory, on the top enter the pet you want to increase the Savvy on, on the bottom is the pet to be sacrificed.

Increasing a pet's Savvy is not a guaranteed process. Every level of Savvy decreases the chance to succeed. There are items that will help increase the chance of success though. When a Savvy increase is unsuccessful, the Savvy level on the pet that was being raised will drop to the next lowest "safe" level. A safe level is a level that the Savvy cannot go below once raised above it. The safe levels are 1, 4, 7, and 9.

Increasing a pet's Savvy is also not free. The first Savvy level costs 1 gold flat, with each successive level costing more. Unsuccessful attempts still cost gold, and unless starting at a safe level will end up costing more when you factor in re-increasing the pet's Savvy to the starting level before the failed attempt.

Savvy 1 = 1.0% total increase to all Tal Ratings = 100% Success
Savvy 2 = 1.5% Tal = 85% Success
Savvy 3 = 2.1% Tal = 75% Success
Savvy 4 = 3.0% Tal = 65% Success
Savvy 5 = 4.4% Tal = ??% Success
Savvy 6 = 6.4% Tal = ??% Success
Savvy 7 = 9.3% Tal = ??% Success
Savvy 8 = 13.5% Tal = 3% Success
